Beyond Connections: Building Capacity for Prevention Through Expanded Networks and Partnerships

Reducing Stigma, Gaining Faith in Prevention

This engaging training session looks at how stigma associated with substance use, mental health, and trauma can obstruct effective prevention efforts. It also discusses how collaborations with faith communities can help lessen stigma and broaden prevention outreach. Participants will investigate the origins and effects of stigma, assess the special role of faith-based organizations, and work together on methods that honor personal experiences while advancing prevention messages. By the conclusion of the session, attendees will be prepared to involve faith leaders as advocates for prevention, create inclusive strategies, and implement learned ideas to promote healing and resilience in their communities.

Risk Reduction to Increase Community Readiness: Adult Alcohol Use

Alcohol is used by about 3 out of 4 adults in the United States. In recent years, micro-breweries and DORA districts have become economic drivers for Ohio cities. And yet the Surgeon General just released a report that links several kinds of cancer to even small amounts of alcohol use. In this webinar, Kristina will share strategies to break through to individuals when community readiness for adult alcohol use is low and change seems impossible.

Ask, Listen, Learn: Empowering Kids to say "NO"

Ask, Listen, Learn: Kids and Alcohol Don’t Mix is Responsibility.org’s free interactive educational underage drinking prevention program for kids ages 9-13 and their parents and educators. This session will discuss the need for prevention efforts at the elementary and middle school levels and how coalitions can utilize Ask, Listen, Learn’s free underage drinking and underage cannabis use prevention resources in their efforts with parents and in schools.

WeTHRIVE! Creating a Culture of Health, Safety, Well-Being

WeTHRIVE!, an initiative of Hamilton County Public Health, aims to foster a culture of health, safety, and vitality throughout Hamilton County utilizing a community driven approach. For 15 years HCPH has been partnering and power sharing with communities and schools to create sustainable changes.  WeTHRIVE! recognizes that communities and schools are experts in what works best for them and what their needs are, WeTHRIVE! staff partner with community and school teams to identify health and wellness priorities and develop strategies to address those priorities. This webinar will highlight the WeTHRIVE! process and key elements of the initiative that have been crucial to WeTHRIVE!’s success.

It's Not Just for Kids: Engaging Older Adults in Behavioral Health Prevention & Promotion

Prevention activities traditionally focus on schools and youth ignoring that older adults also benefit from behavioral health promotion and prevention programs. This webinar engaged participants in better understanding what behavioral health issues impact our older adult population. Programs and evidence-based curricula exist to engage older adults in prevention and behavioral health promotion. The training also explored potential partners and locations where outreach is most needed will also be discussed.
