The Relationship Between Vulnerable Populations & Sex Trafficking
This workshop will open your eyes to the regional and national scope of sex and human trafficking, and introduce the role and value of substance use/misuse prevention in mitigating this crime.
The pervasiveness of sex and human trafficking networks in our region and nation are very much connected to the youth population and substance abuse. This session provides an eye opening overview of sex and human trafficking and how vulnerable youth are manipulated into this life. Learn what to look for in order to combat human trafficking and how substance use/misuse prevention can play a role in curbing this tide of trafficking.
- Identify strategies used by criminal traffickers to attract youth
- Assess the public health and societal costs of sex and human trafficking
- Learn which resources are available to aid individuals impacted by human trafficking and how to integrate these resources into your work
