This Prevention Basics training provides an overview of vital substance use and misuse prevention concepts. Participants will be introduced to the public health approach to prevention, the continuum of care, and the role of coalitions and providers in community-based prevention efforts. These concepts will be referenced as the participants are introduced to the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF).

By the end of this webinar, participants will:
1. Be able to name three key prevention concepts: public health approach, continuum of care, and coalition/faith-based organization roles. 
2. Be able to list the five steps of the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF). 
3. Be able to sort examples into universal, selective, or indicated prevention categories. 
4. Be able to match key prevention terms (e.g., risk factors, protective factors, continuum of care) with their correct definitions during a group activity or quiz. 
5. Be able to apply one concept from the Strategic Prevention Framework to a real or hypothetical community scenario shared during the session.
 
Prevention and public health CEUs will be provided. No cost to attend.
