This session introduces cultural humility and presents how this process differs from other culturally based training ideals.

While it’s important to provide culturally appropriate services it’s even more critical to understand and reflect on your personal practices and how they shape the quality of your interactions. Cultural humility focuses on self-awareness and how our personal beliefs, values and biases influence how we provide services. This session explains the differences between cultural competence and cultural humility. The impact of cultural humility on how we do our work will be discussed and helpful strategies and tools to foster critical self-reflection will be shared.
