This interactive session will provide strategies and tips on best practices to successfully advocate to Ohio’s legislative body.
Advocacy is an important part of prevention work. The voice and expertise of prevention professionals, educators, community organizations, and social services providers is crucial to the development and passage of necessary and valuable legislation impacting our communities and youth. This session will focus on the “how to” of advocating to Ohio’s legislative body. Defining and understanding the differences between advocacy and lobbying will be included. Additionally, general assembly structure, ways to contact your state legislature, how to identify an ally in the legislature, and how to effectively testify will be introduced.
