Student Drug Use Survey (SDUS)

PreventionFIRST!’s Student Drug Use Survey is administered every two years; this data was collected in the fall of 2015. We utilize a modified version of the Pride Surveys questionnaire – a valid & reliable measurement tool of youth drug use. All schools in the tri-state region were invited to participate. This year, nearly 40,000 7th-12th grade students from 88 schools across the tri-state area participated. All students in school the day the district conducts the survey, participated. The data is representative demographically of the region and represents a census of the area’s 7th-12th grade student population.  There was a 83% response rate which is considered excellent. This survey has been implemented nine times in the Greater Cincinnati area and is viewed across the region as the most current and reliable source of validated information on youth substance abuse.
