The Intersection Between the College Population and Community Coalitions: A Panel Discussion

This panel discussion brings together Miami University, University of Cincinnati, and the Talawanda School District to share their perspective and experiences on addressing substance use/misuse in the college population.

This workshop will highlight campus-based prevention initiatives implemented by the University of Cincinnati Campus - Community Alcohol & Other Drugs Coalition and the Coalition for a Healthy Community-Oxford Area. Panelist will discuss the resources, tools, and strategies used to address substance use/misuse in teh college population and surrounding neighborhoods. Approaches to increase collaboration and promote capacity building with community and higher education partners will also be shared.

Learning Objectives

  • Demonstrate how to collaborate with a local university to address high risk drinking
  • Formulate prevention strategies for youth and adults among a campus community¬†
  • Apply community readiness strategies to build prevention capacity with university administration and faculty
